Tools like Otterly and Peec.ai are excellent at showing you the gap. They tell you exactly how often a client gets mentioned across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude. But measurement and improvement are different skills, and those platforms don't cover the execution side.
The execution is technically different from SEO. Improving AI visibility means restructuring content so LLMs can extract clean answers, deploying schema types that traditional SEO doesn't touch, and building the kind of third-party citations that language models treat as authoritative. Conflating GEO with Google ranking work produces no results.
And if you're a 4-person agency managing 15 clients, you don't have the bandwidth to build this muscle from scratch, especially when the discipline is still evolving month to month.
